America’s Swimming Pool Company Shows Their Support with 2016 Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

America’s Swimming Pool Company (ASP) launches second annual Pink Shirt Facebook Campaign to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

MACON, GA – America’s Swimming Pool Company has announced a company-wide effort to increase breast cancer awareness and emphasize the importance of early detection among clients and the public. The swimming pool franchise’s corporate office and independent franchise owners & employees will be wearing pink ASP branded polos throughout the month of October. Photographs from the 85 ASP franchise locations across 22 states will be used in a Pink Shirt Facebook Campaign. Starting at noon on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, America’s Swimming Pool Company will launch the campaign on Facebook to donate $1 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for every like they receive on their Facebook page and Pink Shirt post.  The goal is to motivate ongoing early detection efforts, as well as encourage continued support of breast cancer research.

“Breast cancer has become a disease that dominates too many lives, and has caused too many painful memories for many of our staff, franchisees, clients and vendor partners,” explained Jef Flournoy, ASP Vice President of Franchise Development. “I lost my step-mom to this disease almost 16 years ago, and vividly remember those painful final days.  Our team made a collective decision to choose breast cancer awareness as a cause close to our hearts.”

One out of every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Early detection efforts, along with continued research on prevention and treatment, are more critical than ever. The National Breast Cancer Foundation’s mission is to provide help and inspire hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education, and support services.

“It is with great pride that our ASP team supports the National Breast Cancer Foundation and their efforts to give help and hope to those who have been affected by breast cancer,” said Tom Swift, President and COO of ASP Franchising. “We hope that seeing all of our teams in pink will remind residents across the country to focus on early detection, support ongoing research, and honor the brave individuals who must fight this disease.”

As researchers continue their work on breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cures, individuals can also make a difference.  Family members can remind each other about the importance of early detection, many can participate in awareness walks, and those with the means can financially support ongoing research.  Everyone can provide support and encourage those individuals and families who are fighting this disease.

“We think about the great Jim Valvano and his inspiring words,” stated Stewart Vernon, Founder and CEO of ASP Franchising, “‘Cancer can take away all of my physical abilities. It cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart, and it cannot touch my soul.’  This is the message ASP wants to share with the cities we serve.”
